The foundation started as a collection of friends getting together every Thursday evening for a ‘catch up’. After a few months we decided to become more proactive and to find a way to give back to the great country in which we have grown up.
After considering many ideas we decided that the best way we could give back would be to further the education of others less fortunate than ourselves.
As a group (we were ten in the beginning) we decided to put away R 100 (South African Rand) per month. We decided on the core principle of sacrificing one draft beer per week or roughly R 25 a week. This offered a good measure for inflationary comparisons, but it also represented a small sacrifice for each of us to make to contribute to change in our wonderful country.
