Hello One and All. The Second half of the year has been extremely busy for Just The One and we are excited to give you a little insight as to what we have been up to.
Walk The Talk
Just The One Foundation joined the 50 000 plus fellow walkers at the MTN Walk the Talk. As a team of mentors and learners; we all took part in the 8km walk that started at 9am. Some of our team members brought their dogs to join the fun walk. It was a wonderful morning with great moments and weather to catch up, share jokes and tell stories.
Every family deserves bonding – the event proved that for us. We all started and completed the walk together, followed by a yummy breakfast in Greenside. It was the first time for our learners to take part in this event and they thoroughly had a blast! Thank you to all our supporters whom continue to serve tomorrow, today!
Partners For Possibility
Over and above, providing support to our bursars we took a strategic decision to invest in the larger education system of South Africa. As such, we established cooperation with Partners for Possibility; our commitment is to financially support Mr Mpho Malunga, Principal at Gordon Primary School in Alexandra Township and successfully matched with Chemonics International; a corporate partner. We expect that the partnership will be based on skills exchange and can equip the Principal with leadership confidence that will permeate throughout the school and community.
We continue to mentor our Bursars; they are all thoroughly enjoying our regular meet ups. They are able so share their schooling circumstances and are open to ask for practical assistance such as tutoring etc. In the coming summer holidays, Lungile and Rethabile will be job shadowing in a law firm as part of our commitment to expose our Bursars to career guidance and opportunities as early as possible.

94.7 Telkom Cycle Challenge
We are thrilled to announce that 25 cyclists took part in the 2017 edition of the Telkom 947 cycle challenge. Dressed in our fantastic new kit all the cyclists took to the route with plenty “gees” with each pedal raising funds for JTOF. We are ecstatic to reveal that our cyclists raised in excess of R35 000 with some amounts still rolling in. Keith Furbank rode a time of 2h37 mins raising R11200. We would also like to thank all our volunteers that gave of their time to man our stations along the route and at the finish keeping our cyclists hydrated and energized. Next year we hope to expand on the number of cyclists and of course raise more awareness and funds for JTOF.
What lies ahead……
Our financial records are sound. We were able to raise sufficient funds to pay for the tuition fees of our bursars next year. We are grateful to our monthly donors and all those who support our fundraising events consistently. We are excited to have been selected for the Lombard Insurance Chairman’s Pick at the value of R50 000. Hafeezah van der Ross, is a new member of the team dedicated to assisting us with corporate fundraising proposals and strategy.
